Premier league Soccer Betting Tips (Round 28)

The time has come! Exactly one month after the Bundesliga, the ball is rolling again in England – the Premier League is back. Before the 30th matchday begins on the weekend, however, four teams will meet on Wednesday to play catch-up games: First, Aston Villa and Sheffield United will duel – then ManCity will host Arsenal. How will the teams present themselves after the Corona break?

Date: Wednesday 17 June
Location: Etihad Stadium

A (nominal) cracker at the start! On day one of the post-Corona season, Premier League fans can look forward to the duel between Manchester City and Arsenal. However, one should not maintain excessive expectations: both teams have plenty of class and prestige – but that does not mean that we have a playful treat ahead of us. After all, the Bundesliga restart has already shown that a Corona break of two or even three months can completely change the constitution of a team.

On the one hand, there is Manchester City, which is playing the weakest season since Pep Guardiola’s arrival: the team that has been spoiled for success currently occupies only second place, the gap to leaders Liverpool is an unbelievable 25 (!!!) points. With seven league defeats, the club has already lost more times than in the past two fabulous years. And as if that wasn’t bitter enough, Liverpool is now preparing to pulverize almost all records from that time.

It is therefore right to ask the question, which arguments are driving SkyBlues for the remaining nine game days: The championship is light years away, second place will not be taken away. There is nothing concrete to win in the league anymore, a finding that should have seeped deep into the minds of those involved during the Corona break. Coach Guardiola is therefore faced with the difficult task of coaching his team – for the first time ever this season – into a dominant competitive mode. Because that’s exactly what is needed for the biggest remaining goal of the season: winning the Champions League.

On the other hand, with FC Arsenal, there is an opponent who can only dream of Manchester City’s problems: The development at Gunners has been declining for years; The team of ex-player Mikel Arteta, who followed shortly before the turn of the year on Unai Emery, only occupies 10th place. In nominal terms, the squad is still better than the current table position, but this argument did not prevent the team from accumulating various embarrassing defeats in the past. After all: With the arrival of Arteta the results got better: The team has been unbeaten for nine Premier League games, whereas City has left the lockdown with a bitter derby defeat against ManUnited.

Ultimately, the situation is extremely difficult to assess before the restart: City’s condition and motivation seem questionable, but it is also questionable whether Arsenal was able to preserve its solid league shape. The bottom line is that we stick to arguments that go beyond short-term performance data – and this shows a clear picture: City has been playing with Arsenal for years. As a rule, the games ended in goals – a total of 25 goals were scored in the last seven matches (3.5 per game). We therefore expect an interesting game that will show an old face despite the new starting position: City dominates, Arsenal loses.

Betting Prediction: victory for Manchester City and over 2.5 goals
Odds: 1.66

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United Soccer Betting Prediction

Date: Wednesday, 17 June
Location: Villa Park

Even before the ball rolls in the Etihad Stadium, the post-corona season will open in Villa Park: Aston welcomes Villa Sheffield United to a duel between two promoters, whose previous seasons could hardly have been more different.

For Aston Villa, the season developed roughly as many had expected: a tough fight without great playful highlights – but with a lot of passion. Unfortunately, willpower alone won’t win a Premier League game – and the whole thing will be even more difficult if you make the league’s worst defense (56 goals conceded). That is why Villa, who has lost the last five competitive matches, spent the lockdown on the penultimate place in the table.

On the other hand, the world looks different on Sheffield’s side: The blades are the surprise team and the feel-good story of the season: thanks to a grandiose defense (25 goals conceded, 2nd place) and a very efficient attack game, the team has teams like Arsenal, Tottenham or Everton is left behind in a table and currently occupies 7th place. If the newcomer can hold this position, the Europa League will wave next year. At least before the lockdown, the signs seemed to be favorable: Sheffield said goodbye to the compulsory interruption with six unbeaten competitive matches in a row.

The bottom line before the direct duel of the promoted players is only one factor that Aston Villa could play in the cards – and that is called Corona. The long interruption could have brought Sheffield out of rhythm, while the Villans simply couldn’t lose a rhythm. However, since the scope of the corona factor cannot be measured in advance, we stick to the factual arguments – and they speak a clear language: Sheffield is the clearly better functioning team, with the clearly better run and the clearly better place in the table. Accordingly, the team should present themselves against Villa: clearly better.

Betting Prediction: victory for Sheffield United
Odds: 2.25
